Grace & the Victory Rider’s new album came out on May 21st 2012.
The first chords of this wonderful album resounded in the rainforest in 2010 and the Amazon spirits are deeply reflected throughout, both in music and in painting.

“Like a Phoenix” was written in the Surui village of Lapetanha, tribute to this proud indigenous warriors tribe, who are still fighting to protect their forest and, after near extinction 40 years ago, have managed the rebirth of their ancestral culture in the 21st century.

The Jaguar, emblem of the Surui indians who lives free in their rainforest territory, is also present through Grace’s painting art

You will also notice that Grace and the Victory Riders wear Surui ritual necklaces on all of the album’s photos.

And as a tribute to Great Warrior chief Marimop who left us last august at 90 years of age, he sings an incantation to the forest as prelude to Grace’s masterpiece “Made for Change”.

MADE FOR CHANGE

I was born before the call, they hid me from it all

But I was born again to make it, learn to take it

Breath into it, open up my name

And understand that every man, their choice is made the same

So you tell everyone that I was made for change

Somwhere deep within the sound, there’s freedom to be found

As the acorn grows up to be a noble oak tree

It’s you within you, ready to unfold

This choice at hand upon which you stand,

Your future’s your command…

So you tell everyone that you were made for change

Ah, how many have walked here before thinkin’

Ah, if I go I take nothing with me,

Only the promise of new hope to new horizons of change

Only now do I believe what dreamers can achieve

And all the different roads you can take, friends you can make

Out there somewhere, it’s already begun

They understand and hold your hand and let you be yourself

So you tell everyone that you were made for change

Ah, how many have walked here before thinkin’

Ah, if I go I take nothing with me,

Only the promise of new hope to new horizons of change

So you tell everyone that you were made for change

I’m livin’ the choices I make, I’m giving with the path that I take

Ya, you’re the one’s gonna open the door, ya, no one’s gonna do it for you…
